Children’s Services 2024 Summer Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteer Program

The Children’s Services Summer Volunteer Program provides positive and fun community service opportunities.

Who Can Apply:
Students currently in 8th – 11th grade.

When to Apply:
Yorba Linda residents may apply beginning Saturday, May 11.
Non-Yorba Linda residents may apply beginning Saturday, May 18.

Online applications will be accepted until positions are filled or through May 31 at 4 p.m. (whichever comes first); therefore, we encourage those interested to apply early.

How to Apply:
Apply online via this page. Application link will be live starting May 11 for Yorba Linda residents and May 18 for non-Yorba Linda residents.

What’s Needed:
Teen applicants will need a valid library card in their name as part of the volunteer application. The application will also need to be electronically signed by a parent or legal guardian.

How to Get a Library Card:
Click here for a library card application prior to applying for the volunteer program. Once a library card application is submitted, please bring a parent/legal guardian, picture ID, and proof of current address to the Accounts Desk to pick up your library card.

What Happens After Submitting an Application:
Students who submit a Summer Volunteer Application will receive an appointment time via email for an IN-PERSON INTERVIEW/AUDITION/PLACEMENT for Saturday, June 1 to get their summer assignment. Priority for placement will be given to those who report in-person at their scheduled time on Saturday, June 1. Volunteers who cannot make the in-person placement time on June 1, will be called during the week of June 3, but volunteer positions will be very limited by this time. Requests for specific volunteer positions and/or to work with friends cannot always be accommodated.
