The Children’s Services School Year Volunteer Program provides positive and fun community service opportunities to HIGH SCHOOL students (must be enrolled in 9th – 12th grade for the 2022-2023 school year).
There are a limited number of volunteer positions available. Applicants are placed on a first come, first placed basis, and positions are granted based on the applicant’s residency, experience, volunteer interview, and availability.
Yorba Linda teens may apply beginning Monday, August 15th. Non-Yorba Linda teens may apply beginning Monday, August 29th.
Filling out an application does not guarantee service hours. Once the volunteer program becomes full, applicants are placed on a waiting list and will be contacted when/if volunteer opportunities become available. This application will remain on file until June 2023. Summer volunteering requires a summer volunteer application available in May.
The application process is as follows:
1. A Yorba Linda Library Card in the student’s name is required to apply for a volunteer position. If the student does not have a library card, we encourage you to obtain one as soon as possible by filling out the Online Library Card Application. The library card can be picked up by presenting picture ID and proof of current address in the library lobby after applying for a card.
2. Yorba Linda residents may apply ONLINE beginning Monday, August 15th. Non-Yorba Linda residents may apply ONLINE beginning Monday, August 29th. Online applications will be accepted on an ongoing basis. Once the volunteer program becomes full, applicants are placed on a waiting list. If volunteer opportunities are available, the student will be contacted via the telephone number provided on the application. If the applicant is placed on a waiting list, the student will be notified via email or telephone when/if volunteer opportunities become available.
3. After the volunteer has been assigned a position, more details will be sent to the student via email.
The City of Yorba Linda will be making safety modifications to our programs to help mitigate the transmission of COVID-19 between individuals, including volunteers, participants, and Library staff. These modifications are based on the guidance of the CDC, State of California, and County of Orange Health Care Agency.
