About Storytimes

Laptime is for children 0 – 18 months. Toddler Time is for children 18-35 months. Toddler/Laptime is for children 0-35 months. Participants enjoy age-appropriate books, songs, and action rhymes, using a variety of flannel boards, puppets, and more in the Storytime Theater.

Laptime and Toddler Time storytimes require registration and space is limited. Online registration usually begins about a week prior to the start of each session. Please register for only ONE storytime (Laptime, Toddler Time, or Toddler/Laptime). If you have more than one child in this age group, please sign them up for the same storytime. Yorba Linda residents may begin registering about a week prior to online registration by calling the Children’s Services desk at 714-777-2873. See more Children’s programs.


Toddler/Laptime (0-35 months)
Mondays at 6:15 – 6:40 p.m.

Laptime (0-18 months)
Tuesdays at 9:30 – 9:55 a.m. 

Toddler Time (18-35 months)
Tuesdays at 10:30 – 10:55 a.m.

Toddler Time (18-35 months)
Wednesdays at 9:30 – 9:55 a.m.

Toddler Time (18-35 months)
Wednesdays at 10:30 – 10:55 a.m.


Preschool Storytime

Preschool Storytime is designed for children ages 3 to 6 only in the Storytime Theater. The development of early literary skills is encouraged through language, fingerplays, songs, flannel board stories, puppets, and crafts. Please register for either Wednesdays or Thursdays.

Preschool Storytime (3-6 years)
Wednesdays at 12:00 – 12:30 p.m.

Preschool Storytime (3-6 years)
Thursdays at 10:30 – 11:00 a.m.

Why do I have to register for some storytimes or programs?

Some storytimes and programs require registration and are limited in space. Registration is required for a variety of reasons:

  • to keep the program developmentally appropriate for the age group
  • to maintain the safety of the room
  • to have nametags ready for each student
  • to have the caregiver’s contact information

What if the storytime or program I want to attend is full?

Due to popularity, some storytimes and programs fill up quickly. If a storytime or program is full, you will be added to the waitlist. If a spot becomes available, you will be added to the program.

What happens during storytime?

Our award winning storytimes feature age-appropriate books, flannel boards, songs, action rhymes, special stories, puppet shows, crafts, and activities. For more details, refer to the storytime descriptions above.
